History of WI-ORH

The Wisconsin Office of Rural Health (WI-ORH) was established in 1975, within the University of Wisconsin's School of Medicine and Public Health, to address shortages of health services in rural areas. As the WI-ORH evolved, it developed a strong health professional recruitment program and worked with many programs at the federal and state levels to bring health care services to underserved areas.

Dr. Byron Crouse is the Associate Dean for Rural and Community Health and is a faculty member the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Crouse works closely with the Wisconsin Area Health Education Center (AHEC) System and the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health.
