This paper highlights several important aspects regarding Lyme disease in rural Wisconsin. It brings to light the importance of strategies used to safely reduce the risk of transmission of this tick-borne illness, as well as promotes self-awareness and vigilance as methods for recognizing early signs of infection. It later goes on to highlight treatment guidelines from an institution that is centered in a Lyme endemic area. Ultimately this paper seeks to raise public awareness of a commonly acquired infection in rural areas, which can be life threatening if left untreated.
