This health workforce study examines the staffing differences between Critical Access Hospital (CAH) and non-CAH hospital QI Coordinators in Wisconsin. Given all of the differences between rural and urban hospitals (operations, finances, reimbursement, services and staffing), the responsibilities and structure of quality improvement staffing differ from facility to facility. In fact, variability can be seen through differences in compensation, benefits, tenure, job satisfaction levels, job responsibilities, education level and experience.
