Residents of Union County, Georgia, have been calling 911 about the ruckus made by cicadas, mistaking the insects’ loud noise for car and home alarms. In a Facebook post, Union County EMS asked residents to stop calling 911 about the loud bugs. The Facebook post says, “More than likely these ‘alarms’ are not alarms at all but a bug, Brood X.” The county EMS goes on to add that the cicadas are harmless and not cause for concern.
