COVID-19 Continues Surge Across Wisconsin

More than 200,000 people in Wisconsin have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and nearly 1800 residents have died. Infection rates are growing in all age groups while 68 of 72 counties report “very high” levels of disease activity. More than 62% of positive cases have been reported since September 1. It took seven months to reach 100,000 cases of COVID-19 but only 36 days to double the number of infections to 200,000. Public health officials are unable to keep pace with the virus through contact tracing. With deer hunting season and Thanksgiving approaching, health officials are concerned rates will continue to rise as people gather socially and indoors. Recent positivity rates, averaged over seven days, have exceeded 25%.
