The majority of rural school districts planned in-person learning but the recent surge of COVID-19 has forced school districts to change their plans. The Department of Health Services has investigated nearly 500 outbreaks in schools. Online instruction is a challenge for many rural districts as more than 40% of rural areas of the state lack high speed internet.
