Grant Writing Without Grief

June 5 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CDT
Free

The Wisconsin Office of Rural Health will host a free Grant Writing without Grief webinar on June 5, 2026, from 10:00am-12:00pm CDT. Tens of thousands of sponsors award more than $500 billion annually and this virtual session will give you the insights you need to write grant proposals with confidence.

Persuasive proposal writing begins with reading the sponsor’s RFP (Request for Proposal) and in this webinar, Wisconsin-relevant grant programs will be profiled. Strong proposals often include a clear discussion of problems, goals, objectives, outcomes and evaluation. Budgets are more than a statement of proposed expenditures; they are an alternate way to express a project’s story. You will gain a foundational understanding of each term so you can connect with sponsors’ values as you write compelling narratives that crystalize the “why” and “what” of your proposed projects, “how” effectiveness will be determined, and “how much” projects will cost. A systematic approach to grant writing will improve your ability to secure the funds necessary to engage in educational, outreach, and caregiving activities.

  • 10:00am-11:00am:  Analyzing RFPs; Building Believable Budgets; Crafting Problem Statements
  • 11:00am-12:00pm:  Writing Goals, Objectives and Outcomes; Considering Evaluation

Your presenter will be Jeremy T. Miner, M.A., associate director of pre-award, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, who has conducted many grant workshops and webinars for the Office over the past decade. In addition to developing and administering proposals to public and private grant-makers, he has served as a reviewer for federal and state grant programs. He has presented grant-seeking workshops nationally and internationally to thousands of grant-getters. His successful grant writing techniques have generated millions of grant dollars for many nonprofit education, health care, and social service agencies.

This webinar is designed for rural Wisconsin health care staff involved in program development and funding.  It will be especially valuable for those seeking to develop their ability to pursue funding through Office of Rural Health Direct-to-Hospital grants and the Rural Health Transformation Program. Whether you are new to grant writing or looking to refine your skills, this session will provide the knowledge needed to interpret RFPs, develop clear and compelling proposals, and align your projects with funder priorities to improve your chances of success.

There is no charge for this webinar, but you must register by the June 3 deadline.
