25% of Rural Population Lacks High-Speed Internet

A new report on broadband in Wisconsin says more than 430,000 people lack access to high-speed internet in rural areas. The availability of broadband ranges widely in rural areas. Rural parts of urban counties such as Racine and Waukesha have higher levels of broadband access, while less than half of residents in nine rural counties, including Ashland, Clark, and Douglas, has access to high-speed internet. Governor Evers has created a broadband task force to take on the issue.
