Central Wisconsin Hospitals May Run Out of Beds in December Due to Spike in COVID-19 Cases

Hospital staff in Central Wisconsin warned Friday that the area could run out of beds in December if hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients continue to increase at the current pace. Hospitals are also in a workforce crisis as they cannot staff their facilities. Hundreds of frontline workers in Central Wisconsin are out due to COVID-19 diagnosis or exposure. “We’ve reached a tipping point,” said Joan Theurer, health officer for Marathon County Health Department.
