Though there is no formal timeframe for a COVID-19 vaccine, states had to file vaccination plans last week with the federal government. In order to offer mass vaccinations while mitigating risk of exposure to the coronavirus, local public health department are planning to offer drive-thru options. Some counties are using this fall’s influenza vaccinations as a dry run. Pierce County will be offering its first drive-thru flu shot clinic this week in Plum City. A.Z. Snyder, Pierce County public health director, said the Plum City site will “test our workflow and the supplies that we need and the forms that we need in order to do drive-thru vaccination.” Eau Claire County is also planning drive-thru flu vaccinations this fall.
