Republican State Senator Howard Marklein and Republican State Representative Tony Kurtz held a listening session in New Lisbon City Hall on February 7th to hear concerns from constituents about EMS reimbursement, water quality, and drugs. Camp Douglas EMS Director James Newlun asked the officials to prioritize EMS funding. “It’s been over 10 years since there’s been an increase in Medicaid reimbursements for EMS, and that increase was approximately one percent,” said Newlun. New Lisbon Clerk Lisa Venz also talked about the huge increase in EMS services costs. “Ten years ago we were paying shy of just six dollars per person for ambulance services, now we’re paying $30.”
