State health officials are asking Wisconsinites to get vaccinated for the flu by Halloween, since the coronavirus pandemic and the flu season are colliding at the same time. Influenza and COVID-19 can have similar symptoms, which may require people with the flu to get tested for COVID-19. Deputy Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Julie Willems Van Dijk said, “it would help a lot if we know that the majority of Wisconsinites have received the flu vaccine.” Last year less than half of state residents were vaccinated for influenza.
