Legislature Eyes Scholarships to Dental Students Who Choose to Practice in Rural Areas

A bill is moving through the state legislature which would grant scholarships to Marquette Dentistry students who commit to work in rural Wisconsin. The Assembly voted 95-2 in support of the bill last week. The bill now goes to the Senate.

The students would have to agree to work in rural areas immediately after graduation.

The federal government has designated more than half of Wisconsin’s counties as “Health Professional Shortage Areas.”
