The Oneida Nation is still under a public health state of emergency effective until at least July 11. This means that masks and physical distancing are still required throughout the reservation, regardless of a person’s vaccination status. The CDC guidance stipulates masks can still be required by tribal, federal, state, local or territorial laws. Tribal lands in Wisconsin had managed to keep mostly free of the coronavirus early in the pandemic thanks largely to stringent health mandates implemented by tribal officials. Menominee Nation officials are still requiring mask wearing, physical distancing and capacity limits on its reservation until at least June 5.
