Mental Health Illness Follows in COVID-19 Wake

A new report from Lancet found that one in five COVID-19 patients develop mental illness within 90 days of recovery. This new finding is concerning for rural areas, where a deficit in mental health resources existed before the pandemic. The Lancet report found 32.2% of COVID-19 patients developed PTSD, while nearly 15% developed depression, and 15% developed anxiety. Some patients ended up with a significantly higher risk of dementia.
