A new report the Legislative Audit Bureau found that 1,720 retired, out-of-state healthcare workers practiced in Wisconsin in pandemic’s early months. A year ago, Governor Tony Evers and the Department of Health Services issued an emergency order allowing certain healthcare providers previously credentialed in Wisconsin or credentialed elsewhere to temporarily practice in the state. Between March 27 and June 10, the Department of Safety and Professional Services issued credentials to 1,555 providers credentialed in other states and 165 providers formerly credentialed in Wisconsin.
