Most Rural Hospital Closures are in States that Refused Medicaid Expansion

Since 2010, when the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, 87% of rural hospitals that closed its doors were in the14 states that did not expand Medicaid, according to the University of North Carolina’s Sheps Center for Health Services Research.
