Nursing homes have seen a huge uptick in COVID-19 infections over the past month. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services data, from Oct. 12 to Nov. 8, Wisconsin nursing homes reported 2,130 newly confirmed cases, and 294 deaths from COVID-19. In the previous month, only 28 deaths were reported, and 387 new cases. Nursing homes in the northeastern part of the state are seeing the worst wave of infections, though there are outbreaks in Milwaukee, Dodge, and Racine counties.
The counties with the worst current outbreaks are Brown, Marinette, Outagamie, and Waupaca.
