Former Representative John Nygren, Republican of Marinette, will be the new executive director of the Wisconsin Association of Health Plans. Nygren had represented Northeast Wisconsin in the Assembly since 2007 and was the co-chair of the budget committee. Nygren resigned earlier this month, saying in a press release he was leaving the legislature to pursue “career opportunities in the private sector.” Nygren may be best known for his work addressing the state’s opioid crisis. He wrote 30 bills on the issue during his tenure.
