A new study shows passionate, first-person stories from frontline healthcare workers carry more weight than an appeal from a federal official on social media. A team of researchers from the University of Michigan found a personal story from an emergency room doctor with first-hand experience with COVID-19 has more impact than an impersonal appeal from the same doctor. Researchers also stressed the importance of keeping politics out of personal tweets by healthcare providers because of the politicization of the public health threat.
