Health care insurers and providers have agreed to remove prior authorization requirements for substance use disorder treatments. Physicians would no longer be required to receive approval from health insurers before prescribing treatment. Rep. John Nygren calls the move a “monumental change.” Companies in this new agreement are Anthem, Children’s Community Health Plan, Dean Health Plan, MercyCare Health Plan, Network Health, Quartz, Security Health Plan, United Healthcare, and WPS Health Solutions.
