Trump Issues Executive Order to Cut Medicare Part D Drug Prices

The Trump administration released an executive order on Sunday that cuts how much Medicare would pay pharmaceutical companies for drugs that are included in Medicare Part D. The order asks the health secretary to implement a policy that would allow Medicare to pay the lowest price of a drug that is offered in countries with a comparable gross domestic product, also known as “most-favored nations.” The pharmaceutical industry is expected to file a lawsuit in order to block the policy from being implemented.
