The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) persons and recognizing their unique health needs by declaring the week of June 6-12th a LGBTQ+ Special Enrollment Period Week of Action. Health disparities in this community are compounded by social determinants of health that are largely rooted in oppressive and discriminatory practices.
